Codified Reproductive Rights

For my entire adult life, I have had an unwavering insistence on a woman’s right to choose and to have access to safe, affordable, and legal abortions. I believe that reproductive rights are the cornerstone of a just society. It is the fundamental right of every person to choose if, when, and with whom to have a child. This essential right has been under attack from legislators and courts that think they should be able to regulate and limit women’s bodily autonomy.

I support legislation like the Women’s Health Protection Act to create federal statutes that parallel the constitutional rights guaranteed by Roe v. Wade and preempt the patchwork of state laws that seek to restrict and ultimately control women’s reproductive choices.

I stand for:

  • Passing the Women’s Health Protection Act, creating new legal protections for the right to provide and access abortion care.
  • Enacting Shield Laws and extending their protections to cover abortion funds and support organizations to assist persons traveling to another state for care.
  • Passing the EACH Act that requires federal healthcare programs like Medicare to provide coverage for abortion services and requires federal facilities to provide access to those services.
  • Defending the right of individuals to seek IVF and other fertility treatments, without fear of prosecution.
